A Lesson in Confidence

Taught by my 4 year old Little Princess

Little Princess has worn cowgirl boots since she was 2.  She loves movies with horses.  She loves books about horses.  Every Sunday we pass a stable and she admires the horses.  Frequently, she informs dear husband and I that she wants to ride a horse.  But horses are big animals and Little Princess has really spent much face time with a horse. 

This week I was able to visit some family friends with horses.  I learned a lot during this visit. 

Little Princess was VERY hesitant to pet the horse.
She she clung to me when asked if she wanted to sit on the horse.

 

 

 

After petting and feeding the horse, she wanted to set on the horse.
  But she did NOT want the horse to move.
Once she conquered that it was alright for the horse to take a few steps
as long as someone was supporting her.

Then Little Princess sat up straight. 
It wasn't long before she relaxed and sat there without someone supporting her.

SO this is what I learned.  Sometimes we dream big.  And those dreams might even scare us.  If we let that fear stop us, we will regret our missed opportunities.  Take things step by step, moving as far as we are comfortable, and then push forward a little more.  Eventually, we will be sitting right on top of our dream smiling at the fields ahead.
